PBIS Information

Northside Elementary School joins Tift County Schools in implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). The Georgia Department of Education and the Tift County School District supports the PBIS initiative to promote academic success, appropriate and positive behavior, and a safe and more effective school climate in grades K-12. The goal of PBIS is to create an environment where educators can teach and all students can learn without disruption. This exciting initiative will allow NSE to:

  • Teach students the behaviors we expect
  • Provide a safe environment where students excel academically and socially
  • Encourage positive behavior and interactions
  • Decrease problem behavior and keep students in class
  • Reduce the number of office discipline referrals

Our school, as part of the PBIS initiative, has defined a set of school-wide expectations and rules for behaviors. NSE posts expectations and teaches them to every student. Students who exhibit desired behaviors outlined in the behavior matrix of expectations receive “Awesome Bucks” as rewards. Our school-wide expectations are:

  • Integrity
  • Respect
  • Always be AWESOME!
